Classes may be canceled by the Arts Center if minimum enrollment is not met. In this case, participants will be notified at least 24 hours in advance and issued a full refund. Participant cancellations require at least 48 hours’ notice to receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance or for no-shows.

Raku Workshop - 5/16 1pm-4pm | ages 15+

Discover the excitement of American-style Raku, a dramatic firing technique where red-hot pottery is pulled from the kiln and placed in combustible materials to create unpredictable, vivid surface effects. Every piece emerges with its own one-of-a-kind patterns, smoky blacks, and striking colors. Bring your own non-functional bisque pieces or choose from premade pottery to glaze with special raku glazes or decorate with horsehair and feathers. You will also learn about the history of the Raku Family in Japan who makes traditional Raku, how it spread to the USA, and how American potters altered the process, creating American-style Raku. *If bringing your own pots, they must be bisque fired and less than 8” in height and 6” in width. Bisqued pottery will be available for purchase- $15/peice.
