The 12,000-square-foot Gunnison Arts Center is a community arts center dedicated to exhibiting and developing visual, literary and performing artists in the Gunnison Valley. With three gallery exhibit spaces, a gallery shop, a dance studio, a 72-seat community theatre/stage, a clay center for ceramics, meeting rooms and a visual arts classroom all under one roof, there is truly something for everyone at the Gunnison Arts Center. Scholarship Guidelines & Information
Every year the Gunnison Arts Center receives donations and support to be used to award scholarships for kids or adults wanting to take arts (visual or performing) classes or workshops. This is an important part of our programming as we strive to have programming that is accessible to the whole community. To apply for a scholarship, please see the eligibility and application requirements below. To contribute to this scholarship fund, donations may be made to the Gunnison Arts Center.
Eligibility: Anyone whose permanent residence is in Gunnison County. Special consideration will be given to members of the Gunnison Arts Center.
Selection Criteria:
- economic need (generally speaking, an annual income of under $45,000/family of 3+, although there may be other circumstances affecting economic need.)
- personal goals
- a personal interview with a member of the gunnison arts center staff, if determined to be necessary
Grant Amount: The Gunnison Arts Center reserves the right to grant any amount of the request in part or in full.
Deadline: Tuition support requests should be made as quickly as possible, but must be received at least seven working days before the start of the class.
Notice of Award: Recipients will be notified according to the preference stated on the application form.
Evaluation: All scholarship recipients are required to submit an evaluation form at the end of the class. Failure to do so will disqualify the recipient from future scholarship support.
