Marketing and Events Manager

The Marketing and Events Manager at the Gunnison Arts Center is a full-time position that establishes positioning for GAC offerings and products in local, regional, online, and social media outlets in order to advance GAC’s mission, participation, and revenue. Additionally, they cultivate a vibrant schedule of entertainment and events featuring local and visiting performing artists that enhances the GAC and the liveliness of downtown Gunnison. 

Duties

  • GAC Marketing
    • Develop marketing plans in coordination with the Director of Operations and other staff
    • Execute marketing plans for all GAC departments and events as well as general GAC marketing
    • Design and distribute printed marketing materials
    • Design and distribute eblasts, continue to grow distribution list
    • Write and distribute press releases to newspapers and radio stations
    • Grow, manage and curate social media presence
  • Collaborate on program catalog creation 
    • Develop catalog look for approval by Director of Operations
    • Collaborate with other program staff on catalog content and order
    • Produce design and pages for content completion by other staff
    • Complete assigned pages 
  • Website upkeep and management
    • Maintain a working and up-to-date GAC website
    • Publish events, classes, and blog roll posts
    • Edit headings and tabs as needed
    • Assist program staff with WildApricot and website integration as needed
  • Collaborate on the Creative District marketing and events
    • Design and distribute Creative District Marketing as needed
    • Book entertainment for Creative District events as needed
  • Live music events
    • Book musicians and bands for the Summer Concert Schedule including Sundays @ 6 and First Fridays representing a wide variety of music styles as well as local and visiting musicians appropriate for the settings
    • Book musicians and bands for Moonlight Music Series for Fall and Winter/Spring seasons with a goal of broadening the Gunnison Valley’s music offerings
    • Collaborate with Director of Operations and other staff on booking entertainment for events as needed
    • Hire sound tech as needed
    • Inventory and track all sound equipment, work to understand the use of equipment
  • Front-of-house 
    • Assist Gallery and Office Manager with front desk coverage and duties
    • Complete sales input, class and event registrations while at the front desk
    • Answer phones and create a welcoming presence at the front desk

  • Collaborative team member of the GAC staff team
  • Report to Director of Operations
  • Maintain a schedule and presence at the GAC Front Desk/Shared Office

  • Thorough, respectful, and professional communication with other GAC staff members, performing artists, visitors, and community members

  • Manage own time and schedule to accomplish duties within 40 hours per week

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of marketing and social media techniques and trends
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Canva
  • Mircosoft Office/Google Drive and is comfortable using computer programs and communication tools
  • Outstanding customer service skills with experience greeting public
  • Experience with point of sales systems and reconciliation of sales
  • Self-starter that can manage their own time and obligations
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Compensation

  • Starting yearly salary of $35,500
  • 80 hours (10 days) of paid time off after 6 months of employment
  • 64 hours of paid sick time after 90 days of employment
  • GAC class/event credit of $75 per schedule

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

The Gunnison Arts Center invites you to experience the arts in the Gunnison Valley! We offer youth and adult dance, art, clay, theatre, music, and literary arts classes. We feature gallery exhibit spaces, a gallery shop, a dance studio, 72-seat community theatre/stage, clay center, meeting rooms and classrooms.
