Session 2: Friday 5:30 – 7:30 pm & Saturday 3:30 – 7:30 pm. June 24 & 25.
These weekend workshops are great for a range of photographers — beginners with new cameras, parents who want to capture important family moments and more experienced photographers looking for inspiration. With a focus on documentary photography, we’ll work to expand technical skills and develop a deeper understanding of the medium. Friday’s class will begin with a basic review of how to operate a digital camera set to manual and how those settings affect the image. Then we’ll take a short photo walk/photo scavenger hunt in the late afternoon light. On Saturday, we’ll first meet inside to review photos taken the day before. Then we’ll go on another photo walk and return to review images taken over the weekend plus discuss sequencing, framing, how to incorporate photography into your daily life, the history of photojournalism and, perhaps, enjoy a beverage while we’re at it. Take one class for a good introduction or take both and begin your photographic journey. The workshops will be taught by Jacob Spetzler, Photo and Sports Editor at The Gunnison Country Times. He has had work published in the Denver Post, Colorado Public Radio, the Crested Butte News among others.
Instructors: Jacob Spetzler & Morgan Raspanti. $75/Student, $63.75/Members.
Both weekends deal: $120/student, $102/member
