Saturdays, 10 am – 12 pm . June 10 – July 15. ( No class July 1st)
Color is one of the fundamental elements of creative compositions and it is important to
understand how to apply that theory to those compositions. This workshop investigates Itten’s
seven types of color contrasts, hue (primary, secondary and tertiary colors), value, temperature,
intensity, simultaneity, proportional application, and how to apply those theoretical principles to
studio work. Previous experience working with color principles is not necessary.
Upon completion of the workshop the participants will have a color concept note book with
examples of the seven types of color contrast identified by Itten and painted examples showing
how to directly apply those contrasts to future compositions.
